Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?
The concepts are simple. Crime Stoppers will pay cash rewards to callers who provide information about a crime which leads to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for that crime. In certain cases, Crime Stoppers will also pay for information which leads to the recovery of stolen property or the seizure of illegal drugs.

Anonymity of callers is protected and maintained by assigning a confidential code number to each tipster. Names never have to be given. It is always the responsibility of the caller to make contact with the program regarding the status of the tip and whether a reward is forthcoming, identifying themselves by only the assigned code number. Because identities are unknown to authorities, there is no requirement for callers to give evidence in court, thus removing the risk of retaliation.

Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $2,000.00 based on the extent of information given and the results obtained. Because Crime Stoppers receives no public funding, the money necessary for the reward fund and training is found through donations and fund-raising efforts.
